Neuroblastoma is one of the most common solid cancers in children. (A solid cancer is one that affects 'solid' organs such the breast or liver, rather than, say, leukemia, which affects the blood). And the study -- of rats -- that was published last month by the Karolinska researchers demonstrates that neuroblastoma cells don't grow as much when the rats are fed large doses of a long chain omega 3 fatty acid called DHA (docosahexaenoic acid).[1]

At the same time, the authors suggest that there is a higher risk of glioma (brain cancer) in the study group characterized by the greatest cell-phone use (≥1640 hours over 10 years, in other words 30 minutes per day over 10 years). This risk is higher on the side of the brain where users say they habitually hold the phone.

On May 6 that committee handed in its work for 2010, alerting the President to the gaps in research regarding the environmental causes of cancer. This year, for the first time, this high-brow panel of oncologists courageously pointed the finger at chemicals and other environmental factors that are likely to cause cancer.

It is Not About the Effectiveness of a Single food, But the WHOLE Diet - A recent analysis of European Population Data (the EPIC study) conducted at the Mount Sinai Tisch Cancer Institute and published on-line in the Journal of the National Cancer Institute concluded that eating more fruits and vegetables has “a protective effect against cancer”, but that “any cancer protective effect of these foods is likely to be modest, at best.” (Bofetta et al., 2010) Dr. Boffetta and colleagues found a small but significant inverse relationship between high intake of fruits and vegetables and overall cancer risk. In this population, an increase of 200 grams a day of fruits and vegetables resulted in a reduction of about 3 percent of cancer risk.

  • Craig D. Smith - Beautiful, catches the light and sends out a sparkle ...

Beautiful, catches the light and sends out a sparkle show. My wife loves these damn things so we now have several, sigh.

  • C. Smith - Great Pre-Christmas Gift

I purchased this for my nine year old grandson and he loved it. He looked forward to each day's building project and using the individual creations on the included playmat allowed him to imagine different scenarios adding to the anticipation leading up to the holiday. This would not be suitable for a very young child because the pieces are small.

  • Jerzy - Love it

Very easy to operate, all works like it should. If you are tall you can by seat extender to put seat higher, helps my wife(she is 6')a lot.

  • Hurri - Easy to understand, yet thorough

This book covers a broad range of topics, right from the basics of installing the environment, discussion on the .NET Framework, Object Orientation principles, right through to more advanced concepts such as database access, threading, network communications and even controlling hardware.

purchased to replace hubcap. We received 4 hubcaps and only using one, but great to know we have for the future. The center of the hubcap is plain, where you would normally see the toyota emblem on it. You can't tell on the van, but you need to know that!
